The signing of the popular America’s Cup campaigner Murray Jones into the Emirates Team New Zealand has bolstered the strength of the team. The addition of Jones will give the team all the needed support and assistance to perform well at the 35th America’s Cup campaign.
Jones has a vast experience taking part in the America’s Cup and has won the cup five times. He has won the Auld Mug in 1995 and 2000 with Team New Zealand. He was also responsible for the Oracle Team USA to enjoy victory in the 2013 cup. Jones is an America’s Cup Hall of Famer. He knows how to make a boat and a team to work together to achieve the optimum result, like he did in Zadar.
Murray Jones said that he is excited to be back to the New Zealand team with whom he has won his first America’s Cup. He said that it has been a long time since he was part of the New Zealand team and is excited to be part of the team now. Jones feels that the Emirates Team New Zealand has a great sailing and the design team. He has a lot of friends on the team and is happy to join them.
Jones said that he was getting a bit interested in knowing what is going on in the cup and what he was missing out, despite stepping out of the cup this year. He received a call from Glenn Ashby asking him if he could help the team and he was the one responsible for getting Jones to get into the team New Zealand.
The New Zealand sailing team director, Glenn, is fully aware of the vast experience and knowledge that Jones has in the America’s Cup event. He could make a world of difference to the team in the six to seven months of the campaign.
